Kyven Tan
Treble
Eleven-year-old Kyven is a choral scholar at The Pilgrims’ School in Winchester, where he sings as a Quirister of Winchester College Chapel Choir. As a Quirister under the tutelage of Howard Ionascu, Director of Chapel Music, he has sung a number of solos in a recent recording for Signum Records of Christmas carols, in the Chapel and further-afield in concert halls and Cathedrals such as Exeter and Winchester, performing works such as Bernstein's Chichester Psalms with a "most notable was treble Kyven Tan’s confidently projected and beautifully tuned solo.” (Derek Beck, Winchester Music Club, 14 November 2019)
Kyven's Quirister performances led to his invitation to perform his individual debut at Symphony Hall Birmingham in Christmas Cracker with Aled Jones in December 2019. His duet with celebrated soprano, Jennifer France, of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Pie Jesu and solos of Walking in the Air and Once in Royal David’s City were met with rapturous applause. "I couldn't wait to hear more from this young man and so was thrilled when he sang the first verse of the next inclusive carol, Once in Royal David's City, bringing a tear to the eye with his confident, heart-warming performance.” (Alison Norton, Express & Star, 22 December 2019)
With the Quiristers, Kyven will has an exciting and energetic year incorporating a tour of the Baltic states, a gala concert at West Green Opera, the launch of their recording of Christmas carols and several performances including the Children’s Chorus of Carmina Burana and a commissioned new work by composer Cheryl Frances-Hoad.
