"Slavica Musa" Chamber Choir, Knurów, Poland
The "Slavica Musa" Chamber Choir was founded in Knurów in 1990. It operates under the auspices of the Knurów Cultural Center, with whose support it realizes its ambitious musical projects. The choir is the initiator and organizer of the Choral Music Days, held regularly in Knurów since 1992.
Since 2023, it has also co-organized concerts as part of the "Knurowskie śpiewanie" series, which showcases Knurów choral and vocal ensembles.
As part of one of the Choral Music Days (2013), the choir was the first in Poland to premiere Sunrise Mass - Symphonic Mass for Chorus and String Orchestra by Ola Gjeilo. In March 2015, it performed W.A. Mozart's Requiem (for the first time in Knurów). The choir's repertoire also includes numerous oratorio works, such as W. A. Mozart's Krönungsmesse and Vesperae solennes de confessore, F. Schubert's Mass in G major, and A. Vivaldi's Gloria and Magnificat.
The choir has performed in Poland and abroad and won numerous awards in choral competitions, including the GRAND PRIX (Katowice, Poznań, Lyski, Sława), first and second prizes (Neerpelt, Katowice, Jastrzębie-Zdrój, Tychy, Wejherowo, Litomyśl, Szczecin), distinctions and special awards for the best performance of sacred, early, and compulsory music.
For its work, it has been honored with the "Knurów Laurel" and the "Bene Meritus" award of the Gliwice District, as well as awards from the Mayor of Knurów in the field of culture.
Since 2012, the conductor of the choir is prof. dr hab. Tomasz Paweł Sadownik, singer, conductor, singing pedagogue, academic lecturer. A graduate of the Academy of Music in Katowice and the University of Louisville (Kentucky, USA). With his ensembles, he won about 50 awards at Polish and foreign choral competitions. Repeatedly awarded as a singer, conductor and promoter of musical life.
