Nancy Mann, Haverfordwest Ladies Choir

Haverfordwest Ladies Choir formed in September 1991 and still enjoy singing together over 30 years on - ‘As long as we have music’, we will continue to do so for many more years.  

They have performed in various places around Wales including St. David's Cathedral, Pembroke Castle and Cardiff Castle (with Prince Charles in attendance). They took part in the ‘Songs of Praise’ live service from the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff with Cliff Richard and Bryn Terfel. More recently they performed at Rhosygilwen near Cardigan.  The ladies have taken part in many massed choir concerts in Swansea and Cardiff.

As well as performing in various venues throughout England, Scotland and Ireland, Haverfordwest Ladies Choir have travelled to and performed in Oberkirch, Germany on several occasions, as part of the Haverfordwest twinning celebrations.

The annual Christmas concert is performed at St. Mary’s church Haverfordwest when much needed funds are raised, for the upkeep of the church and the church organ.  

A fun 'archived memory' for the choir is that back in 1994 they made their first recording on TAPE titled ‘As long as I have music’ ...

Their current accompanist is Gerry Nicholas who succeeded Gwenith Baker and Ann Wheeler.   

Nancy Mann was appointed musical director of the choir in January, 1999. A native of Knoxville,Tennessee, her career in the United States included the production of musicals and operas as well as teaching and performing. In addition to Bachelor and Master’s degrees in music, she holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in opera production from the University of Texas at Austin. Nancy moved to Pembrokeshire from Southport,Merseyside, where she was active as a private piano and singing teacher as well as serving as the associate conductor of the Crosby Capriol Singers. Nancy also plays viola with the Teifi Chamber Orchestra.
