London Youth Choir

London Youth Choir

London Youth Choirs (LYC) is a family of choirs for all young Londoners. It is made up of six central and two regional choirs for young people from every London borough from school year 3 to age 23. London Youth Choir is the senior mixed voice choir in the LYC family, for young people from across London in school year 11 to age 23.

Working across a wide-ranging and demanding  repertoire encompassing many styles, cultures and languages, London Youth Choir members also receive dedicated musicianship classes, guest workshops from visiting specialists including the internationally-regarded Tenebrae ensemble, and enjoy performance opportunities from recording sessions to arena concerts.

London Youth Choir has appeared at the Royal Albert Hall, BBC Proms, Hyde Park, Wembley Arena and Glastonbury Festival alongside artists from the London Philharmonic Orchestra to the Rolling Stones and Ellie Goulding, and has recorded with Gareth Malone and Mika and performed at the Classic FM Live premiere of The Great War Symphony by Patrick Hawes. In lockdown, LYC rehearsals continued online without interruption and the choir presented its traditional end-of-term concerts as online broadcasts of virtual performances.

LYC believes passionately that choir sets young people up for a better future. A dedicated pastoral programme supports all LYC members to develop their knowledge, aspirations, confidence, empathy, character - and a lifelong love of singing and music.
