Howard Sayer

Ensemble Director

Howard Sayer taught music at Worle School for over 30 years, where he established the Worle School Youth Choir, which sang locally and abroad. He was also responsible for choral music at St.Mark's Church, Worle for over 20 years. Now retired, he is keen to bring his passion for choral music to the wider community in Weston super Mare, by conducting Weston Choral Society.

His love of choral singing developed at his primary school in London, where he was inspired by being a member of the school choir which performed at every morning assembly. From there, he became a member of the John Lyon Motet Choir, and regularly sung services on tour in English cathedrals. During his teacher training, which took place in Bath, he became a member of the Bath College of Education Choir, trained by W J Richards. Also at that time he became a member of the Bath Abbey Special Choir, which was conducted by Dudley Holroyd.
