Francis Faux
Conductor
Francis Faux began his musical training as a chorister at Westminster Cathedral Choir School, where he sang on several Gramophone Award-winning recordings and toured extensively across Europe. He continued as a music scholar at Eton College, performing with The King’s Consort and at a televised concert celebrating Yehudi Menuhin’s 80th birthday at the Royal Albert Hall.
He served for nearly a decade as Artistic Director of the principal chorus and chamber choir at Bath Spa University, and continues there as an associate lecturer and vocal coach. He also directs the choirs Lucis and Noctis, using his Estill training and experience to guide workshops, mentor singers, and develop innovative programmes. The choirs have performed at venues including Carnegie Hall, Cadogan Hall, Bath Abbey, and St George’s Bristol, collaborating with ensembles such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Southern Sinfonia, and Bristol Ensemble.
An award-winning composer, Francis has an ongoing creative partnership with Jamila Gavin MBE, writing several works together including We Are Every Child for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and an environmental anthem for the Exeter Cathedral Chorister Outreach Programme. His music, which spans choral, concert, film, and video game projects, is published by Stainer & Bell, Banks Music, and Choral Music Publishing. He also serves as a repetiteur, piano teacher, and examiner for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, nurturing young musicians and promoting contemporary choral music.
