Florence Grandclement, Ensemble vocal Le Tourdion

The choir "Le Tourdion", named after a Renaissance dance, was created in Dole, in the French Jura, in 1978. It now counts about 40 chorus singers. The repertoire of the choir was initially focussed towards classical works:-

  • Haydn - Stabat Mater
  • Fauré - Requiem
  • Stravinsky - Wedding
  • Beethoven - Ninth Symphony
  • Mozart - Requiem
  • Bach - Saint John Passion
  • Brahms - German Requiem
  • Mozart - Coronation Mass

Since 2012, Florence Grandclement has conducted Le Tourdion, and since 2016 she has oriented her choice of works toward contemporary composers.
This new orientation began in June 2016 with Norwegian composer Ola Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass; followed in
June 2017 by Misa in Buenos Aires or Misatango by Argentine composer Martin Palmeri; June 2018, Karl Jenkins’ Stabat Mater; May 2019, Steve Dobrogosz’s Requiem.

In July 2019, the choir hosted Martin Palmeri and performed Misatango in Dole and Dijon with the composer himself at the piano.

Besides these major works, Le Tourdion also organizes a winter concert of shorter pieces each year. The choir is accompanied by professional or amateur musicians from the conservatories of Dole, Dijon, Besançon and the Nord Jura music school.

In June 2023, Le Tourdion are delighted to be part of Illuminare by Elaine Hagenberg in London. They are also performing Requiem For The Living by Dan Forrest in two concerts in Dole and Dijon.
