Ensemble vocal de Saint-Laurent, Canada

Founded in 1995, the Ensemble Vocal de Saint-Laurent (EVSL) is a mixed adult choir in Quebec, Canada directed by conductor Mr. Yvan Sabourin since 2004. In addition to the EVSL, he is the founding artistic director of three of its current groups: L'Ensemble vocal Anémone (female voices), L'Ensemble vocal Ganymède (male voices), and L'Ensemble vocal Stakato (mixed choir). He won the gold medal in the 2006 Montreal Outgames choral competition and, in 2010, won the special prize for diversity at the Neuchâtel International Choral Festival. Having a master's degree in choral conducting, he has also been practicing yoga and meditation for around fifteen years which he transposes into his approach and his choral direction.

The EVSL presents mainly classical works from different repertoires (classical, baroque, renaissance, contemporary) and in different languages. The EVSL is committed to promoting vocal art and the musical training of its choristers while contributing to the growth of musical culture in the community. The choir aims for the integration of different communities as well as the inclusion of all its members.

The choir's singers come from the amateur as well as professional scene. Some of their singers also sing internationally, last year performing at Carnegie Hall (NY, USA). The EVSL is a member of the Alliance des chorales du Québec, Canada.
