Dr. Melissa Morgan, The University of Regina Choir

Dr. Melissa Morgan is the Assistant Professor of Choral Music in the department of Media, Arts, and Performance at the University of Regina. Her responsibilities include conducting the auditioned, Chamber Singers, and the non-auditioned Concert Choir in addition to teaching courses in vocal diction and choral conducting.

An active conductor, she is frequently asked to serve as a guest clinician, adjudicator, and conductor with high school, children’s choirs, and church choirs throughout Canada. As a researcher and scholar, Dr. Morgan has contributed articles to Teaching Music through Performance in Choir, Vol. 5. She is also published in the Canadian Music Educators Journal, and the American Choral Directors Association monthly publication, Choral Journal. Her choirs have won numerous awards including, second prize in the chamber choir category of the Choral Canada National Competition for Amateur Choirs.

The University of Regina Choir is an ensemble comprised of both the University of Regina Concert Choir and Chamber Singers. The Concert Choir is a non-auditioned mixed ensemble that is open to music students, non-music students and members of the Regina community. The Concert Choir has performed in various venues around in and around Regina and Southern Saskatchewan. The Chamber Singers is an award-winning select ensemble specializing in the performance of a cappella choral repertoire. This ensemble has performed in some of North America’s great concert halls including Carnegie Hall in New York, Roy Thompson Hall in Toronto, Symphony Hall in Chicago and the Winspear Centre in Edmonton. The Concert Choir and the Chamber Singers are known to perform together as one ensemble in addition to performing as individual choirs. Both ensembles are conducted by Dr. Melissa Morgan.
