Chanteuses and Friends, England

Chanteuses is an auditioned ensemble of upper voices who specialise in singing a wide range of works by contemporary composers. Their repertoire includes several pieces by Professor Paul Mealor so the opportunity to be conducted by the composer himself was one they did not want to miss!

They are delighted to be joined on this occasion by The Friends, all of whom have sung with Distinguished Choirs International New York and most of whom were conducted by Paul Mealor in 2018 at the US premier of his Requiem ‘The Souls of the Righteous’.

Susan CoxSusan Cox is the Music Director of the ensemble - a long-time member of the Association of British Choral Directors, Sing for Pleasure and the Independent Society of Musicians, Susan has studied conducting with Peter Broadbent, Dr Douglas Coombes, and Dr Amy Bebbington. Following her graduation from Durham and Cambridge Universities she taught students aged 5-18 in schools, worked with teachers through Sing Up, Trinity Guildhall London, and Bedfordshire Music before leading Central Bedfordshire’s Music Service and Education Hub until her retirement from Music Education in 2017. Susan continues to work with adult voices and now directs several adult choirs in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Hertfordshire.

Over the years singers from Susan’s choirs have performed at The Royal Albert Hall, Westminster Cathedral, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Palais de la Musica Barcelona, and Carnegie Hall New York.

Chanteuses and Friends are honoured to be part of the Vox Anima London Singers and are greatly looking forward to performing Music for a Royal Occasion with the other invited choirs.
